Blind faith is believing or accepting something for which there is no basis or evidence.  Every Christmas season, we are bombarded with cartoons and movies where someone, usually a small kid, makes a marsh mellow fluff statement like, “You gotta believe!”  This is an example of blind faith.  It is an emotional faith, but it is not true faith or a faith based on truth.  Blind faith is an emotion we work up inside ourselves. Blind faith is not really faith at all; it is presumption or presuming something to be true without any basis in truth.   True faith is being firmly convinced of something, implying there is tangible evidence that something is true and faithful, therefore I can trust it.

Christians do not have to exercise blind faith!!!!  Yes, there are things that I believe only because the Faithful and Trustworthy God revealed them through His written word, the Bible.  But not everything a Christian believes is based solely on God’s written revelation.  God has made many things evident through nature, through history, and through scientific discovery.  In fact, the Bible says that man is without excuse concerning having faith in God due to this evidence:

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.  For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.  Romans 1:18-20 NASB® - emphasis mine

Note that if God has made certain things evident, then believing these things is not blind faith.  It is a reasonable faith based on evidence!
